The romantic, forest -emphasized low mountain range of our house offers guests looking for relaxation an unexpected experience with extensive walks or hikes in the nearby Dolomite area. Further tours including the summit ascent take you to the Lienz Dolomites, the Venice Group, Großglockner Group, etc. We are happy to make individual touring advice with you every day, in consideration for preferences, and above all the weather. In the room you will find numerous maps and, among other things, the popular hiking books from the East Tyrolean hiking book Author Walter Mair. They enter the land of the 266 three -thousanders, but don't worry, we have many beautiful and easily accessible hiking destinations ready for you. Would you like a guided tour? Please contact us in good time so that we can initiate this.
There are some smaller hikes that you can do directly from the hotel.
This includes the hike to the Alten See (5-minute walk from the hotel) and then further towards Amlach and to the town of Lienz via the normal route OR you hike along the exciting and varied Garnisonsteig (only for sure-footed, experienced hikers) towards Amlach
A second highly recommended hike leads over the eastern shore of the lake first to the Kreithof (approx. 45 minute climb) and then on to the nearby Lavant to the two churches.
Please feel free to contact us for the relevant maps and useful additional information about these nearby hikes.
We advise against the hike to the Dolomitenhütte - we would be happy to explain to you personally why - we strongly recommend that you only go there with your own car or with an e-bike or mountain bike on the normal road. This is especially true since the beautiful hike up into the Dolomites and to the Karlsbaderhütte starts from there.
We would be happy to introduce you to some of our favorite tours. We would be happy to provide you with any on-site hiking advice personally. If you would like to get inspiration for your tours from home, we recommend a visit here
Whether families, seniors or experienced active mountaineers, East Tyrol's mountains offer fantastic tours for everyone!
A special highlight is the Hohe Tauern National Park, which includes many East Tyrolean communities. Hiking in the national park is one of the most wonderful experiences. Most starting points for your hikes can be reached within a maximum of 40 minutes. Are you traveling without a car? In the summer months, the hiking bus can be helpful here; it takes you to different starting points on different days.
Since some hiking destinations lead over smaller toll roads, we recommend always having some change with you. Please just ask us directly whether the destination you have chosen is "tolled".
Experience the wild beauty of East Tyrol on the Iseltrail - a unique long-distance hiking trail along the Isel, the last untamed glacier river in the Alps. The trail takes you around 73 kilometers from the source of the Umbalkees in the Hohe Tauern National Park to the mouth of the Drau.
Hike through impressive gorges, past roaring waterfalls and through idyllic alpine landscapes. The Iseltrail offers pure enjoyment of nature, coupled with impressive flora and fauna that can only be found in this untouched region. Whether a sporting challenge or a leisurely day hike - the trail can be customized and offers both experienced hikers and nature lovers unforgettable experiences.
Discover the originality of East Tyrol and feel the power of the water on every stage. The Iseltrail is more than just a hiking trail - it is an adventure that lets you immerse yourself deeply in nature!
