And on Fridays and Saturdays visit the Lienz city market and mix with the locals. Culture in Lienz, East Tyrol
East Tyrol offers numerous cultural events and exhibitions, as well as numerous museums worth seeing. We are pleased to offer you a small excerpt from the extensive cultural offer. </ H6>
Lienz Museum “Schloss Bruck”

This mighty castle was built in the 13th century by the Counts of Gorizia.
The castle is run as a local history museum and Albin Egger Lienz gallery. In addition to this permanent exhibition, summer exhibitions on the history, art and culture of the district and beyond will be presented from the extensive collections of the castle.

National Park Matrei “Tauernwelten”

This exhibition shows over two floors in the most modern way conceived natural and cultural features from the East Tyrolean region of the Hohe Tauern.
Finds of places of worship and hunting grounds from the Stone Age, up to the farming forms of farming for centuries to the present time, are made vivid. Further interesting is the natural history part of the exhibition. This includes the extremists in the high mountain flora and fauna and stories about animals that are found in any textbook.

Roman town “Aguntum”

The archaeological site shows finds from this Roman site, ranging from fine ceramics to tools and technical equipment. The museum is in constant change due to the ongoing discovery, and the excavations have been completed with a magnificent shelter, which at the same time conveys an idea of ​​the size and height of the original Roman atrium in the interior.

In the summer months, the traditional brass band concerts of the local bands are held weekly, but modern jazz concerts give the Dolomite town of Lienz an incomparable atmosphere on balmy summer evenings.

The street theater festival OLALA takes place at the end of July, when Lienz city center becomes colorful again and rich in spectacular performances by international street artists.

Dolomitenmann

Furthermore, every year in September the famous Dolomitenmann takes place.
